Maihar is a city of 40,000 people (2011) in Maihar district, Madhya Pradesh. Maihar is a religious pilgrim place for Hindus. Having the temple of Goddess Sharda, the deity of learning. The town was the capital of the princely state of Maihar before the independence of India in 1948.
