At Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront, Two Oceans Aquarium presents marine life from the Indian and Atlantic Oceans through dozens of exhibits. Families can see sharks, African penguins, rescued rockhopper penguins, turtles, rays, jellies and a living kelp forest, as well as look closely at small sea creatures using a digital microscope. A dedicated Children’s Play Centre offers marine-themed puppet shows and arts and crafts. The venue combines wildlife viewing with informal ocean learning and interactive family activities.

Room for discovery
What can you explore?
- View rays, rescued turtles and indigenous fishes through a 10-metre transparent tunnel or a large viewing window in the 1.6-million-litre I&J Ocean Exhibit.
- Explore the living Kelp Forest Exhibit, where sea bamboo grows among swimming fish, and see its dappled underwater environment.
- The Children’s Play Centre offers daily puppet shows and ocean-themed arts and crafts; its page says puppet shows are especially enjoyed by children ages 3–9.
- Suggested interest ages
- Suggested interests: ages 3–17
- Editorial age guidance
- Editorial planning suggestion: ages 3–17 are a useful target range for independent engagement with exhibits and, for younger visitors, the dedicated puppet shows and crafts. This is not an admission rule: the aquarium describes itself as a family day out and publishes no general minimum age. Babies and younger children can visit with adults, with stroller and nappy-changing facilities listed. The 3–9 age reference applies to the Play Centre puppet shows only, not venue admission; activities may also interest older children and teens.
- Visitor planning notes
