Kaohsiung’s National Science and Technology Museum presents science through interactive exhibitions spanning everyday technology, health, agriculture, climate, industry and Taiwan’s development. Its B1 Fun City recreates a small urban district with a children’s traffic park, shops and a block-building area where play introduces road safety and daily-life science. Other permanent galleries use hands-on activities and displays to explore topics such as climate change and agricultural technology. The museum is a large multi-gallery venue, so families can choose areas suited to their children’s interests and energy.

Room for discovery
What can you explore?
- Fun City combines a child-scale shopping district and traffic park with road signs, crossings and traffic lights for play-based road-safety learning.
- The Climate Change gallery uses scenarios and hands-on interaction to explore warming, Taiwan-specific challenges, sustainability and disaster prevention; the museum identifies families with children and upper-elementary students as its target audience.
- The Story of Taiwan Agriculture exhibition blends objects, models and interactive activities to show how technology connects with farming, food and Taiwan’s agricultural development.
- Suggested interest ages
- Suggested interests: ages 3–17
- Editorial age guidance
- Editorial planning suggestion, not an admission rule: ages 3–17 are a useful interest range because the museum specifically describes Fun City as suitable for ages 3–8, while climate-change exhibits target families and higher-grade elementary students and other galleries address general audiences, school students and older learners. Younger children may still visit with adults; the recommendation does not imply that every exhibit suits every age. The children’s electric vehicles and 3D theater have separate age/height recommendations or restrictions (see provider_age_rules).
- Visitor planning notes
- The official visitor page lists regular hours as 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.; exhibition-gallery tickets are sold 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. It says the museum closes Mondays except public/make-up holidays and also closes on Lunar New Year's Eve and Lunar New Year; other closures may be announced. Weekend summer-break hours may extend to 6:00 p.m. Fun City sessions last 50 minutes, and the electric car/motorcycle activity is limited by session availability, has a separate fee and is operated once per child per session. Check the museum's current schedule, temporary notices, accessibility and stroller arrangements before visiting; these were not established from the cited pages. The official ticket page lists NT$120 general exhibition-gallery admission and free admission for children under 6 with valid ID; verify current rates before travel.
